Giant Red Leopard-Moth
From Hope City Stories
Nymphalis dinopacyphilos, a species of butterfly common to certain central African countries. Occasional pictures exist, but the species was believed to be extinct, or to be a misidentification of another genus, until they were identified and named by Professor Leopold Schtott at some point in the early 21st century.
A large colony of these amazing creatures, the only group surviving outside the rainforest, have been introduced to Hope City, bred, and trained by the mask known as Papillon. They are now officially considered an endangered species.
Oops... It looks like I've given this species two different names, in different parts of the book
Also known as a Crested Giant Red Butterfly (L. hesperia carnidii)
