A fictional police detective from a TV show. Apparently there is a big convention every year, where dozens of the guests dress up as the character in flares and incredibly loud shirts. Gerald Stark is a big fan of the show, and has won an award for his costume on the first year he attended. The name of the show isn't mentioned in canon, so any suggestions are welcome.
Fictional Character Biography
Mick is a police detective, but he's been undercover so long he seems to forget that fact. Some of the cops he tangles with aren't aware that he's undercover, and he's been arrested and cautioned in his cover identity a couple of times. On the other side, some members of the "Vesuvius Gang" are aware that he's a cop, and so refrain from doing anything illegal in his presence.
He is quite smart, but "pushes the envelope so hard that it flies across the room and lands in somebody's coffee". When making plans with the gang, his ideas often seem outlandish enough to be outright crazy. The same applies on the irregular occurrences he makes plans with his police comrades. The difference seems to be that within the gang, he has a reputation for coming up with million to one chances that actually pan out, crazy plans that work, and for being just plain lucky. The cops never go along with his plans, and their overly methodical, by-the-book attitude is usually why the gang hasn't actually been caught.
He's the kind of guy you could never imagine going undercover. He's loud, proud, occasionally obnoxious, seems to have no idea of finesse, and no indoor voice. He originally applied to transfer from uniform to the detective bureau because he can't stand wearing drab colours. He also has a bad habit of juggling whatever's in his hands if he's nervous or deep in thought. On one occasion he's walked past a suspect juggling the guy's wallet, phone, cigarettes, and hearing aid (which he'd just lifted) and the suspect didn't notice. Everywhere he goes, he sticks out like a sore thumb, so even when confronted with strong evidence, people will refuse to believe he's undercover.
