Red Vermilion

Originally a party mask, a teenager who dressed up in a flashy costume (consisting of light silk and lace that floated around her as she moved, but mostly of bare skin and confidence) when masks were starting to become fashionable. However, as she had been exposed to low levels of Savant Radiation while she was sleeping for almost her entire life, when she recited a poem and imagined calling down bolts of divine power, she actually managed to emit a bolt of energy from her body. Her first manifestation demolished her Newgarden home.

Red Vermilion was officially recognised as supernormal during the initial SARI Act screening; but as she had gained her powers through pure radiation exposure, at that point Atlantean dialysis had no effect. She later founded the Next Enforcers, a group of masks who initially named themselves the Next Wave before that came to be used as a generic term for masks of their generation.

Costume

Red and white silks that seem to float in the air; lace and zirconium only where they wouldn't stop the fabric flowing. A half-domino mask in red and blue velvet. Heavily inspired by Japanese magical girl TV.

Powers

Red Vermilion chose her name before getting any kind of powers; therefore her actual abilities do not have much relation to the motifs she uses to represent herself. Her ability is a form of dragonbreath; she can project it from her hands if she wants to, but it is a lot easier to control the power if she directs it from her mouth or eyes. Unlike most dragonbreath users, she can also charge up her power by meditating on the concept of justice for up to a minute. When she does this, the gems on her costume start to glow, and then sparks jump between them as the power searches for a release.

She is also notably more powerful (and can charge up to a higher level) when exposed to background Savant Radiation.
