Savant Radiation

A kind of radiation emitted by Atlantean crystals under certain circumstances. Initially hypothesised (and then proven) by Antoinette Clarke, but she only considered it worthy of study as part of the properties of the crystals, rather than a phenomenon in itself. This definition was then expanded on by Doctor Abrams, who incorrectly (and maliciously) attributed the original discovery to Hugo Savant.

It is known that prolonged exposure to Savant Radiation can result in a person (or possibly other animals – sufficient experiments have not yet been done) to develop supernormal characteristics, sometimes permanently. The radiation can also be channelled to form a field which magnifies or reduces the effects of Atlantean crystals and supernormal abilities based on them. As well as being emitted by the crystals, it is now known that some masks, notably Red Vermilion, produce Savant rays as part of the radiation gamut emitted by their laser eyes or dragonbreath abilities.
