Also referred to as General Spector, but this isn't a title he routinely uses.

Initially one of four supernormals who were granted abilities by Professor Normal while he was in the process of trying to understand Mayor Clarke's work on the subject. Later they came to see themselves as apprentices or assistants, although Normal preferred to work alone unless he had a special need for their particular talents.

Following the Hope Tower Incident and the very public end of Professor Normal, Spector wasn't as worried as his former compatriots. Seeing a niche waiting to be filled, he took on the mantle of Professor Normal, using the fear that his former mentor had garnered to gain traction in the criminal underworld and quickly command the support of a large number of less powerful masks. After the dialysis process became more popular, he sought to increase his own foothold in the city by capitalising on the insecurity of many supernormals who had not previously been willing to fight. He initially had a rivalry with another of the former apprentices, Mandate, but later set up a private army he called New Hope, a spiritual successor that took many recruits from the Hope Three science contingent who were unwilling to abandon their pursuit of more knowledge. This group later came to include Mistress Panther (who may well have been pulling the strings), as well as recruiting (through deception) Deathless, Response, and Black Skin.

He considered the Next Wave to be his nemesis.
